A Q&A ABOUT A YMCA IN WELLSVILLE, NY:

1. When is the Y coming to Wellsville?
The Olean-Bradford Area YMCA and the Town of Wellsville signed an agreement on December 26, 2012 for the Y to be the preferred provider of youth development, adult/family, and health/wellness programming in the area. All recreation department programs, excluding Island Park maintenance and Island Park management, will be contracted to the YMCA beginning January 1, 2013.

2. What will the Y offer in Wellsville?
The YMCA will assume the operating responsibilities of programs noted in #1 including staffing, supplies, general operations, administration and overhead. The goal will be for the YMCA to expand current program offerings and be a valuable resource for strengthening the community.

3. What is the cost of membership and programs with the Y in Wellsville?
Citizens of the Town of Wellsville will have a choice to participate at the Y by either joining as a "facility member" and/or registering for programs. Facility members get preferred registration rates on program fees not covered in membership fees. Wellsville residents that are not YMCA members will receive a 15% reduction off program fees. Non-residents who are not YMCA members will be required to pay the full program fee.

4. How does the Y financial assistance program work?
A person or family applies for assistance by completing a simple one page form. The Y takes into account household income, # of children and any special circumstances. A sliding fee scale is used to determine the amount of assistance awarded. By the way, this assistance is made possible by generous people and businesses that give to the annual YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
